Preferred Seating

Your Seat, Your Way

For as long as we've been flying, there have been certain Economy Class seats that most travelers seem to prefer. We call them: Preferred Seats.

Medallion® members and customers purchasing Y, B, or M Economy Class tickets will continue to enjoy complimentary access to Preferred Seats at the time of booking and all the way up to departure. But now, non-Medallion members can purchase these seats 24 hours prior to departure.
Preferred Seats include:
  • Bulkhead seats*
  • Aisle seats toward the front of the plane
  • Window seats toward the front of the plane
  • Emergency exit row seats

How to Book Your Preferred Seat

MEDALLION MEMBERS/ Y, B, or M FARES

Step 1) Book a flight.
Medallion members can book any Economy fare. Non-Medallion members can book any Y, B, or M Economy Class ticket.

Step 2) Select a Preferred Seat at time of ticket purchase.
Preferred seats are available at no additional cost. Or, visit My Trips, if you already have a ticket. M Economy Class tickets can select complimentary Preferred Seats when checking in.

Step 3) Settle in and relax.
Enjoy your flight from one of the best seats in Economy.

ALL OTHER ECONOMY CLASS TICKETS

Step 1) Book a flight.
Book any non-Y,  non-B, or non-M Economy Class ticket.

Step 2) Purchase a Preferred Seat during check-in.
You can check in through delta.com or a Delta airport kiosk 24 hours in advance and select any available Preferred Seat.
Step 3) Pay the applicable Preferred Seat fee.Fees vary by seat location and flight destination.
*Passengers needing special assistance should contact an agent. Those seated in the bulkhead row may be reassigned to accommodate passengers with disabilities. Refunds are automatically issued if a similar seat is not assigned.

We’re doing all we can to satisfy your hunger, no matter what your taste buds are calling for. From premium fresh products like Boar’s Head® meats, healthy snacks and fun family favorites like Mrs. May’s Cran Blueberry Crunch and Pringles potato chips to our extensive EATS menu, one thing's for sure, you won't be low on options.

What's on the Menu?

The food and beverage service you receive onboard your flight is based on your flight's time and distance. Here's what you can expect on a particular flight.

Flight Distance:

250 Miles or more (up to 1.5 hours)
We offer complimentary Biscoff cookies on flights from 5:00am to 9:45am and pretzels on flights from 9:46 AM and later, plus a selection of complimentary nonalcoholic beverages.
600 Miles or more (1.5+ hours)
In addition to our complimentary snacks and beverages, we offer high-quality snacks for purchase from the All Day Goodies section of our EATS menu.
1,400 Miles or More (3+ hours)
Our premium EATS menu is available on domestic (U.S. and Canada), Latin America and Caribbean flights during meal times. Breakfast is available from 5:00 am to 8:59 am and lunch/dinner is available from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Coast-to-Coast
For flights between New York and one of three cities on the West coast (Seattle, San Francisco or Los Angeles) you can expect breakfast from 5:00 am to 8:59 am and lunch/dinner is available from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Our Coastal EATS menu.
A separate Hawaii EATS menu is available on flights between Atlanta and Honolulu.

Most Credit Cards Accepted

Only credit or debit cards are accepted on flights within North America, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Bermuda and the Caribbean. Use your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express and earn double miles and 20% savings off of select in-flight food, beverage and in-flight entertainment purchases.

    Alcoholic Beverages
    A selection of complimentary beers, wines, spirits and cocktails are offered in the First Class cabin. And for our Delta Shuttle travelers, complimentary beer and wine is offered throughout the cabin and complimentary cocktails are offered in First Class on all Delta Shuttle flights.

    Special Meals

    Gluten-free? Kosher? Diabetic? No problem. We accommodate seventeen different special meals. These special meals are available in First Class, BusinessElite® and Economy Class on flights where complimentary meal service is offered. View the complete list of special meals to determine which meal meets your need.
    Please make all special meal requests through My Trips at least 24 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Once you check in, let the gate agent and a flight attendant know that you ordered a special meal.

    Premium Economy Dining

    We now offer premium meal service on select flights within limited routes to our Economy Class customers. If you're traveling on select flights between New York-JFK and Los Angeles, CA (LAX), New York-JFK and San Francisco, CA (SFO) and New York-JFK and Seattle (SEA), you can enjoy a fresh meal designed by our renowned chefs and take ease in knowing a meal is waiting for you onboard.

    To see if the Internet is available, look for the "Wi-Fi Onboard" icon overhead or next to your row number.
