For many students it has become really become very difficult even after completing their AME course successfully or clearing all DGCA exams on time, to undergo OJT in any Airlines or MRO. As now a days we can notice that AME jobs are in very much demand and jobs are very less, as the students increase for this practical training, the Aviation Industries began to charge fees and looked for recommendations, like Air India charge around Rs. 28,500/- for 6six month ojt, and Rs. 15,000 for further extension of 6 months, but still there is no guarantee of job in Air India. The students of AME course which are not having enough jacks are not able to get the training even though they try hard to get somewhere in.
There are also many Institutes like SCHOOL OF AERONAUTICS(NEEMRANA) or other few colleges INDIA , who made OJT from their Institute only as a compulsory part of AME courses to get C OF C. This new system also serves as a waste of time for AME students, because in most of the Institutes aircraft used to give OJT practical training are of out dated technology, which are not used in aviation industry any more and also many of the systems are not operative as they are not live aircrafts. So when AME students apply for a job in any Airlines/MRO on the basis of his C OF C, most of the time he/she is not able to get the job because he do not have any expereince on live aircraft, and for applying for ant job he need to undergo ojt on any live aircraft, again spent 6months and also have to pay for it too.
The reality is that, most of the Institute providing ojt in campus is just beneficial to complete AME course with C of C, but for jobs they are not taken as live experience.
The usual practice of the students is sending resumes to aviation companies who are all recruiting or giving training for AME students and waiting for their call letter or reply. This is time consuming and sometimes you may not receive any replies. So it’s very hard part for the students to obtain the training to finish the course.
